John to his wife Susan: “Your brother is in Thailand”
Susan: “Thailand? Peter? No way. He did not tell me that he was traveling!”
John: “And this moron got hit and all his valuables have been stolen. His email came in during the night. He is asking us to send him 500 Dollars by Western Union!”
Susan: “Oh my God! We need to send it to him!”
And they did and you can guess the rest!

Our parent company - TAG Bankers received, couple of months ago, a communication from a bank in Ethiopia enquiring about an email they received from us regarding a deal. The only problem was that we never dealt with them and did not even know anybody in their country! An investigation demonstrated that a client of ours used our letterhead, forged our Directors signatures and mimicking our email ID communicated with the Ethiopian bank to try to scam both them and us!

The correlation point of both situations is the use of an email message. Who - corporates or private has not been hit by such types of scam attempts?

For us, it was not the first time that we have been subjected to such type of scams. Except that this time we decided to react and thus was born Verimates an email sender ID verification system (as long as the sender is a client of Verimates)

Our first task was to ascertain that clients’ details were securely protected. We decided to use Amazon cloud in order to store data from our clients. For a hacker to access these details would mean that they hacked Amazon and then located on Amazon cloud where the data was and hacked the internal control we have designed and then steal it! Maybe with a Quantum computer a hacker would be able to do it. But then as we all know Quantum computers are not yet available...
